Trip fun, packing hack, and the best sunscreen for your face!
Silly trip fun
I love to hype a trip away when I am packing. I start thinking about what to pack weeks in advance and try to incorporate a little extra fun into it.
One fun thing I have taken to lately is getting some kind of silly and fun shirt for our trip away. I learned this from a lovely (and HUGE) family who regularly orders matching shirts for over 150 people for a beach vacation. It's just a little extra fun for everyone involved.
When we went to Disneyland I got the kids some cute Disney shirts on Etsy. They're no longer available but I will link to them if I find them! I got myself this shirt because I HAD to. I love Mary Poppins. So fun! They had a bunch of other cute designs as well. Where did I get it? Online of course.
So when I knew we would be going to Vegas I just had to inject a little extra fun into the trip with some poolside wear. I found these hats online! Aren't they fun? They have so many different and fun sayings on them. We wore them at the pool yesterday.
Then, because I am crazy, I found some matching shirts on Etsy that we had to have.
So much fun!
A little packing hack
Figuring out what to pack when it comes to makeup and beauty supplies is always a little stressful for me. I like to wear perfume but bringing a big bottle not only takes up space, they’re usually glass and if it breaks it would be an expensive smelly nightmare.
I noticed that whenever I order something from Nordstrom’s beauty department that you get to pick three free samples to try. So when I ordered my dry shampoo and this sunscreen (which I’ll talk about in a minute), and tried several kinds of sunless tanner (a blog for another day), I picked out samples of perfume, lipstick, and face wash every time. Um, hello? Why haven’t I been doing this for years? These are so easy to pack and the perfume is great!
Sunscreen for your face!
Finally, someone told me about this sunscreen last summer and it is THE BEST. ince I am well into my thirties the days not wearing sunscreen are well behind me. Plus, I am not trying to make wrinkles happen any faster than they need to. I try to wear makeup products daily with SPF in them to give me extra protection from the sun, even in the winter.
The problem is that there are some days when I will be in the sun that I want some extra protection or I want to reapply after an hour or two. Like if I’m headed to the park with the kids, or we’re out exploring a city like Chicago or New York I would normally want to apply a layer of sunscreen but it makes me so greasy I can barely stand it. I got this sunscreen powder stick from Nordstrom last year and I love it.
I use my regular products with sunscreen in them, then I apply this over the top of everything when I am done. I can also just toss it in my purse and reapply in the bathroom midday so easily and it controls the shine instead of making it worse.
And since I ordered from Nordstrom I got three free beauty products so I picked up some samples for our trip. Bonus!
