Fun & Fashion Friday!

TGIF! Guys we might have finally cracked the seal on SPRING.

I am so exited to get this outdoor sofa on my new patio. In between my hospital and ER visits, work, and birthday parties (yes I have been back to the ER this week - arrrgh) we (well Terry, like 92%) have been working on finishing up this project.

I got these deep cushions for the outdoor sofa from Target. I wanted something comfy to relax in out there. I also picked up a bunch of fun outdoor throw pillows at Target and World Market. They are my go-to stores for fun decorating.

I can’t wait to work on decorating the patio! It’s a blank slate! Imagine how awesome it will be to sit back there on a sofa we (well Terry, like 92%)  built!

All those cabinets in our garage were previously in our kitchen!

In the meantime I am getting exited to start getting into my non-blizzard clothes. So what is up this week?

Zella live in leggings

I have been wearing these leggings as a staple in my life for years now. In the spring, fall, and winter, I actually do “live in” them. I really should buy more colors. My brother got my first pair for me as a gift - which I thought was slightly odd at the time. I mean, I had never been gifted loungewear before.

Here's the thing: my brother was working at Nordstrom at the time (feeding my addiction) and they were a very popular item and deemed a "must have" for women's wear. (Side note: sadly he now works in tech and no longer employed with my mothership.)

I love them so much that I raved about them to my friends and they bought me a second pair for my birthday one year! Ha! So now I have two pairs of the best leggings.

Why do I love them?

First: they are tight but not too tight. The are tight enough to smooth things in but also still comfortable. They have lasted with this satisfying level of butt and thigh hug for years and years  now. It’s a quality butt hug - but not overpriced.

Second: I can wear them to work out. I have run in them outside many times, especially in the chilly months. I have done yoga in them. There is even a tiny little pocket in the front for a house key or a random thing that one of your kids hands you in the deli line at the grocery store.

Third: They are very well made and opaque and smooth enough to wear to the grocery store or to Target. I don't wear them to work (clients tend to dislike their lawyer dressing casually enough to do a headstand) but you can bet I change into them the second I walk in the door after work. I have a booty and I am conscious of making sure that fabric, especially clingy fabric, looks smooth on my posterior. I would even say it pulls “stuff” in. I have had them for years with no chaffing or pilling whatsoever.

Finally: they come up high enough to cover that extra skin on my abdomen that my kids left after they moved out of my uterus. Here they are again, they're the best.

And now, I have gifted them to multiple people. So I am the weirdo gifting loungewear.

Kate Spade Earrings

I have a few pairs of these gem stone colored earrings that I absolutely love. They are casual enough to dress up a sweatshirt and dressy enough to wear with a suit.

I love the style of Kate Spade and these are the perfect blend of classy and casual. They are even on sale! I'm grabbing another pair.

I saved the best for last: SHOES!

I absolutely love these Michael Kors wedges. I had a few trips planned for last summer and I wanted something that would be comfortable to walk in, especially since I was headed to NYC.

I ordered these because they looked comfortable enough to walk in, yet they had some lift to them. I love heels but I have learned to be careful buying shoes when I have a lot of walking to do.

They look great in the summer with dresses and shorts, and great with pants on a casual day at the office.  Last year they were only in white, black, tan, and brown, but this year they come in all kinds of fun colors like blue and orange

You can see in the photo below I wore them for about half of our day (the drinks, dinner, and more drinks part) out in New York. I’m with my sister here. She’s my favorite and such a thoughtful, smart, and lovely human. She is also hilarious and I wish she lived closer because she makes me laugh like no one else.

I’m so happy it’s Friday! I hope to have my outdoor sofa on the patio later today! I’ll insta it and for sure blog about it soon. XO -kate
