Happy Fall Y'all

Happy Fall Y'all

I know that the change of the seasons is really sometime in late September, and that summer really starts on June 21, winter starts on December 21, etc. But in my house I feel like it is officially fall when it is September 1.

Truth be told, I always let it creep in a little earlier than that because it is just so much FUN to decorate for fall! Terry is reminding me on his birthday every year (late August) that his birthday technically falls in the summer ... meanwhile my kids are wearing Halloween jammies and I am sipping coffee out of my pumpkin mug.

Today I am sharing some of my early fall favorites because they are just so much fun!

1: My beloved pumpkin mugs

I have shared a few photos of these before. They are just so cute! I love to have fresh coffee steaming out of one in the morning, or curl up with a book and a cup of tea in one of these mugs in the evening.

I purchased the pumpkin mugs last year from Pottery Barn. They are still available! You can find them here. and I was cruising around online looking at fall things and I noticed that they had three NEW styles: a black cat, a ghost, and a mummy! Naturally I needed all three! How fun are these!?!

Aren't they the cutest? I absolutely love decorating for fall!

My coffee today! The mummy is so cute I can barely stand it. I have three full bins of fall decor and I have already gotten into one but today I am going to break into the others!

2. Fall decor!

September is so exciting because it kicks of a four month long process of over the top festive decorating! I have fall decor, Halloween decor, Thanksgiving decor - which is minimal because the day after Halloween I am already pulling out my Christmas stuff.

Last year I bought this faux pumpkin at a craft store and drew a monogram on it with a gold toned permanent marker. I love the way the white pumpkins give some contrast to the heavier oranges and gold tones of fall.

My sunroom has already gone through a transformation to fall. Normally it is all pink and teal but for fall I swap out the pinks for oranges and reds. I like to sit in here with the windows open on a cool night with a candle burning and a glass of wine after the kids are in bed. Fall is wonderful because the days are still warm but the nights are cool. There is nothing like curling up with a cozy blanket and the smell of cinnamon and apples wafting through the air.

I already swapped out my summer placemats and updated my centerpiece for some fall themed things. I found this metal tiered stand at Pottery Barn and I could not wait to decorate it!

I also found a cute one at Target that is less expensive (it was not around when I was shopping!) that you can find here. You can also click on the photo for a link to it.

I have two more full bins of fall decorations so stay tuned for more!

3. This romper!

This! I texted some of my besties about it yesterday because I LOVE it! I bought this on a total whim off of Amazon. That’s right. Amazon. You can find it here for $16! I wanted a romper and I didn’t want to spend $50 or more. It is such a fun fall color and it is SOOOOOO comfortable. I mean look how cute it is!

I tried this on and immediately ordered it in gray as well. It is like wearing a big cozy sweatshirt. The side is low so you would either wear a tank underneath or one of those fun lace bralettes like I am. I have one in black and one in white. Bralettes are a good investment because they are about 1000 times more comfortable than a regular bra or sports bra and they do the good work of covering the ladies while looking cute all at the same time. You can find the romper here and lace bralettes here.

4. Fall makeup!

Oh how I love to experiment with new bold colors in the fall. I picked up this fun lipstick from Mary Kay. It is a tried and true matte lipstick in a fall color that I love. I only have to put it on in the morning and reapply after lunch (on work days) and it otherwise stays.  Notice how my romper and lipstick are both like a burgundy-wine color? I also switch back to drinking red wine in the fall as opposed to rosé or white wine because it just fits the mood of coziness.

I also grabbed some fun new eyeshadow colors - steel-y colors, purples, burgundies, and gold tones for fall. Finally, I picked up a purple gel eyeliner. If you have not read about my love of gel eyeliner, you NEED to from a previous post! Gel eyeliner is the way to go. I love this purple because it is dark enough to be professional (hello - not looking like a clown at the law office) but light enough to change things up a little for me. Purple softens the look of the eyeliner a lot which is nice to offset the bold fall colors I am working with.

Looks good enough for work or the weekend right? You can find it here!

5. Fall evenings!

You can't beat the coziness of cool fall nights. Even my little Ozzy agrees!

I love drinking seasonal flavored teas in the evenings during fall or a glass of red wine while I relax with Terry after the kids are in bed. Last night Terry and I split a bottle or red wine and watched our Netflix jam Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. It's Jerry Seinfeld's show on Netflix and we are totally hooked. It is just a wonderful stress free way to relax.

I am looking forward to high school football games, namely the marching band half time show (did I mention I am a big band nerd at heart?), fire pits, drinking wine with friends, and the Great Pumpkin! Happy Friday and THREE day weekend friends!
